About

Why SLC Rising Exists

Lasting financial progress is rarely created by one dramatic decision. It is built through small actions repeated over time.

Mission

SLC Rising helps everyday people move from financial survival to financial possibility by turning overwhelming money goals into clear, achievable actions that build stability, ownership, wealth, and legacy.

Vision

A generation of households and communities who know where they stand financially, know their next step, and keep taking it — building capability that outlasts any single program, product, or person.

Survive → Build → Legacy

Our framework describes financial readiness and behavior, never income or social class. It gives people language for where they are and a visible direction forward.

  1. SURVIVE
  2. BUILD
  3. LEGACY

SURVIVE

"I'm drowning."

"I'm getting control."

BUILD

"I'm getting control."

"My money is beginning to work for my future."

LEGACY

"I'm building wealth."

"What I'm building can outlive me."

Core Philosophy

People do not need to change their entire financial lives today. They need to take the next right action.

  1. 1.Small actions create small wins.
  2. 2.Small wins create confidence.
  3. 3.Confidence changes behavior.
  4. 4.Changed behavior creates momentum.
  5. 5.Momentum creates opportunities to build assets.
  6. 6.Assets create options.
  7. 7.Those options can ultimately create legacy.

SLC Rising does not create dependency. SLC Rising creates capability.

The 10% Philosophy

We encourage people to work toward intentionally directing at least 10% of what they earn toward building their future. Ten percent is a target, not a prerequisite.

You may begin with 1%, with $10, with one extra debt payment, one emergency fund deposit, one retirement contribution, one benefit claimed, or one better decision. If nothing is available to save right now, your next action may be increasing income, accessing benefits, reducing an expense, or restructuring debt.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Build from there.

Founder

Founded by Shavenna L. Crumpton

Shavenna is the architect behind the SLC Rising framework, its publications, and the Legacy Roadmap. Her work began with a simple observation: most financial guidance assumes people already have margin, and most people who need it don't — yet.

SLC Rising is deliberately built as an institution rather than a personal brand: able to teach, publish, and serve people independently of any one voice. The people SLC Rising serves are the heroes of this work.

Where We're Going

SLC Rising is building a long-term ecosystem: published works, practical tools, and programs delivered directly and through the organizations already serving people well. Someone should be able to enter while struggling and remain with us as they become stable, invested, an owner, an entrepreneur, and eventually someone planning what they leave behind.
